Scorching hotfrom up close
Education, information and transparency are high values for GMVA – especially in times of growing environmental awareness. This is another reason why we regularly invite people to detailed tours of the plant. Every year, over 850 members of the public take up this offer. A visit to the plant and the associated engagement with the topics of waste disposal, energy generation and environmental protection is always recommended, especially for schools.
Take a look for yourself!
Have you always wanted to experience first-hand how a waste incineration plant works and how clean energy is produced from waste? We are happy to offer you the opportunity to do so with our guided tours. Both individuals and groups (of eight or more people) can register. Details can be found in our booking tool on this page.
What you can expect: A little theory and a lot of practice
The tour begins with a brief explanation of how the system works. You will also receive a short safety briefing as part of this. This is necessary, among other things, because the tour of the plant takes place during operation. After the theory, the really exciting part awaits you. The tour of the plant takes you from the huge waste bunker to the boiler area with its more than 1,000 °C hot interior to the control room – the brain of the plant, where all the measured values come together.
